We’ve all enjoyed our time together this year in a crazy whirlwind of activities. Our membership table at the Dover Library Volunteer Fair was a big hit and we’re thrilled to be welcoming new members too! Our projects have included gardening at Riverside Rest Home, Wreaths Across Dover, adopting a family for the holidays for holiday gifts from toys, and decorating Veteran’s Stockings. End 68 Hours of Hunger packing also brings our clubwomen together once a month. We love meeting up for coffee, walking the community trail, our regular book club AND we started a new walking club to support each other in our health and wellness efforts and giving us all time to get to know one another better, especially our newest members.
Looking ahead we are working on two fundraisers! We are organizing a Savers Fundraiser throughout this winter, collecting soft goods like clothing, bedding, accessories, coats, etc. We even rec’d a donation of free storage until April 1st from The Storage Barn here in Dover. Yes – our final day is April Fool’s Day (of course!) and we’re hoping to drop off a HUGE truckload to convert into cash to donate to help our local community. Last time we did Savers we were able to donate approx. $600 split between End 68 and Dover Children’s Home. We’re also continuing with a 3rd annual plant sale with HUGE, beautiful hanging baskets from Wentworth Greenhouses. Our club donated $800 from our plant sale last year to help homeless youth through Waypoint. We hope to grow both our fundraisers. Plans are ongoing.
We sure could use some help from all our GFWC sisters! Winter is a great time to be inside and clean out closets and attics. And spring is just around the corner which means our plants will be ready for pick up on May 20th. Watch our Facebook page for more information or send Mary Jane, our President a note. Pick up??
