Federation Day Food Bank Project
GFWC-NH’s JAM (Just A Membership) Club is organizing and hosting an amazing day for all NH club members at the New Hampshire Food Bank.
The date is Tuesday, April 8. We will arrive at 9 am, have a tour of their operation, and volunteer sorting frozen or nonperishable food or helping with cooking for feeding programs around the state.
Then we will have lunch provided by the Food Bank's culinary students, and should finish by 1 pm. Cost of the day is $15, which will cover the lunch.
Please bring a nonperishable food donation—or have your attending club members bring them so you can add these donations to our day. We will have a table under our pop up tent so you can find the entrance when you arrive and leave your food there.
Sometimes at a meeting, it’s hard to get to know people. It’s much easier when you are working side by side! So bring someone new to GFWC along with you so that she can find out who we really are!
Deadline for initial sign ups for this Federation Day Food Bank Project is Friday, March 28, coming up! And our actual project date on April 8 is not far away.
We have a total of 36 available spots available and we hope and expect that we will fill them all. We are also hoping to help get as many clubs represented as possible. Although signups are on a "First Come, First Served" basis, each club is initially asked to sign up no more than four members. If your club has additional interested members, we will keep their names and contact info on a waiting list. If there are remaining spaces after the March 28 deadline, we will fill in from that list.
Here are the step by step directions for all club members to complete:
1. Let Phyllis Appler, our JAM Club's FEDERATION DAY FOOD BANK PROJECT Chairman, [email protected], and Donna Maskwa, JAM Club President, [email protected], know via email that you are planning to attend. If you have food allergies or other dietary restrictions, let us know that too.
2. Send a check for $15 to Mary Ryan, 241 Drakeside Rd. Unit 2202 Hampton, NH 03842 made out to GFWC-NH.
3. Please have your volunteers create their own volunteer account on www.nhfoodbank.volunteerhub.com before coming to volunteer. They will only need to "create" their account. They will not be able to actually sign themselves up for the opportunities as the spots are blocked off to reserve for our group so they will appear "full". (Donna just signed up and it took less than 5 minutes.)
4. Before attending, please try to check out their webpage at https://nhfoodbank.org/. This organization is amazing!
